Yangcheng Luo
Yangcheng is a PhD candidate in Planetary Science at the Division of Geological and Planetary Sciences of California Institute of Technology (Caltech). Yangcheng's research is focused on atmospheres of terrestrial planets, especially the atmospheres of Mars and terrestrial exoplanets.
Yangcheng obtained his Bachelor of Science degree in Atmospheric Science from Peking University in 2018, where he studied atmospheric ozone photochemistry in Earth-like exoplanets using three-dimensional climate-photochemical models.
Yangcheng got his Master of Science degree in Environmental Science and Engineering from Caltech in 2020, and after that he continued his graduate studies in planetary science. At Caltech, he has worked on diverse projects from methane sources on present-day Mars and lightning-induced nitrogen fixation on early Mars, to ozone and nitrogen chemistry on the exoplanet TRAPPIST-1e, and even submesoscale motion in the upper ocean. Yangcheng has a variety of hobbies including cooking, traveling, and studying classical Chinese literature, namely, the Story of the Stone.
